About the Project
The background, the story, and the reason Spring Creek Advisory exists.
Spring Creek Advisory is named after the one-room country school the founder attended growing up — Spring Creek. Small, straightforward, and built for the community it served. That's the model here.
The name isn't a brand exercise — it's a statement of origin.
This isn't a startup. It's a practitioner's workshop, built in the open.
The founder has been in banking since 1999 — starting as a teller and working up through proof operations and core systems before moving into bank technology support. From there, the path went to the regulatory side: three-plus years as a state bank examiner, including time as examiner in charge on safety and soundness exams.
After that, the move was back to the banking side — into credit analysis at a Nebraska community bank. That's been the job for the past eighteen years: starting as a senior credit analyst handling relationships over $1M, presenting to the senior loan committee, building portfolio reports for the board. Over time that grew into managing the credit analyst and loan administration staff, sitting on commercial and agricultural loan committees, overseeing the real estate appraisal process, running the bank's watch list, developing and maintaining loan policy, coordinating FDIC and state safety and soundness exams, and building the portfolio monitoring tools the bank actually uses.
That path — examiner, then credit desk, then credit management — is what these tools are built on. It means understanding what examiners look for and what credit officers actually face when they sit down to do the work.
Most analytical tools available to credit professionals fall into one of two buckets: enterprise platforms priced for enterprise budgets, or generic templates built by people who haven't sat in a credit committee.
The tools on this site were built because the right tool didn't exist — or existed only inside software suites that cost more than a community bank's entire technology budget. Credit professionals are experienced people doing serious work. They deserve tools built at their level.
During beta, everything here is free to use. No login. No account. Open the tool, do the work.
More tools are in development. The roadmap is driven by real problems: things that show up repeatedly in credit review, portfolio stress testing, and regulatory examination prep. If you're a credit professional with a problem that doesn't have a good tool attached to it, reach out.
The long-term model is practitioner-priced access — not free forever, but priced for the individual credit professional, not the enterprise software buyer.
Twenty-five years in banking — starting as a teller, moving through regulatory examination, and spending the last eighteen years on the credit side of a Nebraska community bank. Loan committee member, loan policy developer, and portfolio monitoring tool builder.
